It may have been a disappointing Sunday for Waalitj Marawar (West Coast) but that didn’t stop Harley Reid from rising above to grab a second Mark of the Year contender.

Collingwood had jumped out of the gate to have the Eagles under siege as Liam Duggan launched another ball from deep within their own defensive 50.

A contest formed under the ball but it was Reid who timed his run to perfection to launch off the back of Pies big man Billy Frampton to fly above him and teammate Jack Darling to haul in the stunning grab.

It gave the Eagles’ defence a much-needed out having fought off a wave of entries and was the high point of what was an otherwise dour day at Marvel.

Reid’s stunning grab follows his nomination in round six where he flew high over Walyalup’s (Fremantle) defence on his way to his third goal in the derby.

It also capped off a strong opening quarter from the rising star with seven disposals and a clearance though it couldn’t stem the tide finishing with 17 touches and one behind.

Despite the loss it didn’t stop Collingwood gun Nick Daicos from levelling him as “very scary.”

“He’s a star. Some of his ball use is great and then his contest work,” he told Fox Footy.

“He’s a big boy and he’s very talented for his first year, it’s very scary to think what he could be.”

Reid was also nominated for the AFL’s Rising Star, where he is a $1.34 favourite to win, for his round four performance against Richmond to add to his growing collection of accolades.

West Coast will be known as Waalitj Marawar for Sir Doug Nicholls Round.

Fremantle will be known as Walyalup for Sir Doug Nicholls Round.
