Suspended Citilink flights’ future kept silent
The future of low-cost airline Citilink’s flights to Perth is being kept under wraps.
Citilink, an Indonesian low-cost airline headquartered in Jakarta, stopped flying to Perth in February, and there are no flights until May 1.
A Perth Airport spokesperson confirms that the flights remain “suspended” and adds: “The return date is yet to be confirmed by the airline.”
The suspension has caught out some readers who have tickets, including one family with return flights for four, booked online, with Citilink to Bali in August 2025. The tickets have been paid for, along with accommodation “also booked and paid”.
Citilink has told Travel that “no-one is sure what will happen after May 1”.
And the reader adds: “After waiting about an hour on the phone, we were told
they are not sure what is going to happen. If we cancel now, we will only receive the
taxes as a refund. They told us to wait until May 1 and ring back as they may extend to June 1, then July 1.
“It’s not really good enough, but we will take a chance and wait until May 1.
“When you get to be an 80-year-old, you would hope all these dramas had gone.”
The Perth Airport spokesperson adds: “Perth Airport continues to work with all its international airline partners to connect Western Australia to the rest of the world. We hope to see Citilink back at Perth in the future.”
Citilink was established in July 2001 as a low-cost brand of Garuda Indonesia. They can be contacted on 1300 781 747 and refund details are at citilink.co.id/en/refund.
