Eintracht Frankfurt have defied a dismal Bundesliga run to reach the German Cup final with a 3-2 comeback victory at 10-man Stuttgart.

Evan Ndicka in the 51st, Daichi Kamada's low shot from the edge of the area four minutes later and Randal Kolo Muani's 76th-minute penalty reversed Stuttgart's 19th-minute lead from Tiago Tomas on Wednesday night.

Enzo Millot revived Stuttgart's hopes with a deflected shot in the 83rd but teammate Borna Sosa was then dismissed for a second bookable offence, and Frankfurt survived an added time penalty review after Aurelio Buta appeared to have handled the ball.

In the June 3 decider in Berlin, Frankfurt face title holders RB Leipzig who won the other semi-final 5-1 at Freiburg on Tuesday.

Leipzig are in their third straight final and fourth in five years, while Frankfurt return for a ninth final after lifting the trophy for a fifth title last time in the capital in 2018.

"We fought our way back into the game and were a little lucky in the end," Frankfurt board member for sport Markus Kroesche told Sky TV.

"It shows what the team is capable of. We want to win the Cup and now we have a chance to do so."

Last year's Europa League champions shook off a run of nine games without victory in the Bundesliga and the final will be the last Frankfurt game for Kamada, who is leaving after the season. The same could apply for France forward Kolo Muani who is reportedly sought by several European top clubs.

Three-time Cup winners Stuttgart failed to boost morale with a victory for the remaining four Bundesliga matchdays in their fight against the drop.

They are 15th and above the danger zone only on goal difference ahead of a Saturday date at bottom club Hertha Berlin.

"We are disappointed. It wasn't a bad game from our side. We controlled the first half and then Frankfurt scored in quick succession. Now our full focus is on the league," Stuttgart goalkeeper Fabian Bredlow said.
