Chelsea's Mudryk investigated for adverse urine finding
Chelsea forward Mykhailo Mudryk has been contacted by the Football Association after an "adverse finding" in a routine urine test.
The Premier League club issued a brief statement on Tuesday confirming an investigation into the Ukraine international, followed by a social media post from the player.
"I can confirm that I have been notified that a sample I provided to The FA contained a banned substance," Mudryk wrote on a post on Instagram. "I know that I have not done anything wrong and remain hopeful that I will be back on the pitch soon."
"Both the Club and Mykhailo fully support The FA's testing program and all our players, including Mykhailo, are regularly tested," Chelsea's statement said.
"Mykhailo has confirmed categorically that he has never knowingly used any banned substances. Both Mykhailo and the Club will now work with the relevant authorities to establish what has caused the adverse finding."
Mudryk joined Chelsea in January 2023 for around ?62m (A$124m) with add-ons rising to a possible ?89m (AS177m). But he has struggled for first-team opportunities this season and largely been used as a substitute.
