Bryce Cotton has done it again!

The Perth Wildcats superstar has produced his fifth 40-point game for the season to lift the Wildcats to a 96-86 win over New Zealand at Spark Arena.

Cotton famously scored 59 points against the Breakers earlier in the season and they again couldn’t figure out how to stop him.

The four-time NBL MVP looked like he may fall short after missing two free throws late, but he made a shot in the dying seconds to give him 41 points.

That followed his 59, 40, 44 and 49-point performances throughout the 24-25 season.

“It was a back-and-forth game. They made big shots but I wanted to lock in and try to make the right plays as they happened, whether it as the pass or taking the shot,” Cotton said.

The win means the Wildcats have guaranteed they will complete their longest time away from home over Christmas with a winning record.

Perth were handed an unprecedented seven consecutive away games over the Festive period when the fixture was released. They now have a 4-1 record during that run with two more matches left before they return to RAC Arena.

They are accustomed to spending extended time on the road when RAC Arena is unavailable due to the tennis but, outside of COVID, they never experienced more than five consecutive away games during the Christmas period.

They’d faced the five-game challenge four times and only come home with a positive win-loss record once.

New Zealand’s 229cm giant Tacko Fall had threatened to take the game away from Perth. He scored 28 points but was only able to play for 25 minutes and the Wildcats seized control every time he left the court.

Matt Mooney was also impressive for the Breakers with 28 points before fouling out.

But it was Cotton’s day yet again.
