The following comments were presented to the City of Albany but they did not share my concerns — a matter for the police.

Road infrastructure issues travelling towards the CBD along Middleton Road/bike path safety include the road curving to the left in the vicinity of Vine Street, and the road curving to the left in the vicinity of the Dog Rock.

Often vehicle drivers are clipping/crossing over the solid white lane on the left-hand side of motor vehicle.

The reason for this is twofold: poorly disciplined drivers straddling the line for lengthy distances; and phenomena as explained in the following commentary.

In particular, at the Dog Rock bend, the northbound driver is heading almost directly at an oncoming vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.

My personal experience is that it’s a little unnerving and the tendency is sharpen the turn to the left, and therefore to across the solid white line and into the bike lane.

It takes a certain amount of discipline and nerve to remain within the motor vehicle lane.

These two areas are in a school zone.

This is a safety issue for bike riders of all ages and is a problem throughout the day.

I prefer to ride my bike on the footpath, therefore interacting with foot traffic.

I would propose that the council installs rumble/audible lines in these areas.
