More than 50 food vendors, local businesses and pop-up bars filled the foreshore to showcase their goods for the weekend, offering the traditional crab boil, fresh crab sales and local seafood dishes.

While some punters tried their hand at crab-cracking workshops, others opted to leave it to the professionals as they watched Michelin star-awarded celebrity chef Kelvin Cheung whip up a storm on the Spudshed Cooking Stage.

It was a tough act to follow but Channel 7’s own dynamic duo of Susannah Carr and Rick Ardon took to the cooking stage next, putting their years of Crab Fest patronage to good use.

Roving entertainers and Scitech demonstrations kept youngsters of all ages engaged.

For the extreme-sport savvy, the Mandurah Action Sports Games again coincided with the festival, with skateboarders, wakeboarders, BMX and motocross riders putting it all on the line.

Rogue Traders’ Natalie Bassingthwaighte and James Ash delivered a live DJ set on the Seaside Estate Music Stage before a spectacular fireworks show over Mandjar Bay wrapped up day one on Saturday night.

The Festival continues on Sunday.
