Driver, 34, charged with careless driving causing grievous bodily harm over crash with cyclist in Craigie

A 34-year-old man has been charged with careless driving causing grievous bodily harm after a cyclist was left fighting for life when he was hit by a car in Craigie at the weekend. Police say the cyclist and a silver Suzuki sedan collided at the intersection of Whitfords and Marmion avenues about 5.05am on Saturday. The 39-year-old cyclist was taken to Royal Perth Hospital with critical injuries. Major crash officers on Wednesday confirmed they had charged the 34-year-old driver, who was not injured, with careless driving occasioning grievous bodily harm. He is due to face Joondalup Magistrates Court on February 21.
