After having a weekly bye during the opening round of SWNFL 2023, South Bunbury are set to make their return to the court this weekend with an intent to continue improving on last year’s form.

The Tigers will be going head-to-head with Augusta-Margaret River at the South West Sports Centre on Saturday during the second round of the 2023 South West Netball Football League season, taking place this weekend.

Last year, South Bunbury managed to scrape through to the finals, leaving it until their thrilling round 21 match against Bunbury to secure the finals berth from fourth place on the ladder.

Momentum continued to build around the Tigers during the finals series, securing an upset win over Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault in the semifinals before they were eventually eliminated by Eaton in the preliminary final.

This year, South Bunbury will be keen to continue building on their solid form from 2022 with a rested but determined Tigers outfit set to take the court.

Meanwhile, Augusta-Margaret River will be keen to bounce back from their round one loss to reigning premiers Busselton after putting on an impressive showing at the Margaret River Recreation Centre last weekend.

Despite struggling to hit the scoreboard throughout the second half, the Hawks certainly brought the fight to the Magpies with plenty of rapid driving down the court and pressure in defence.

Elsewhere, Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault will also be making their return to the court when they host Carey Park, who continue their quest to end a long-standing losing streak, at the Leschenault Leisure Centre.

Busselton and Eaton will also go head-to-head in what is set to be an exciting grand final rematch at the South West Sports Centre on Sunday.

Both sides will be going into the match coming off some strong form during round one, with the Magpies beating the Hawks at Margaret River, and Eaton defeating the returning Donnybrook-Blackwood Ravens at Bridgetown Leisure Centre.

Bunbury and Donnybrook-Blackwood will both have a bye for the round.
