Bunbury product Josh Risdon in line to make ‘second’ Perth Glory debut after recovering from knee injury

Josh Risdon is in line to make his second debut for Perth Glory on Friday, with coach David Zdrilic confirming the Bunbury product would be available for selection for their clash with Risdon’s former club Western United. Risdon, who returned to his home State club in the off-season after seven years away with Western Sydney Wanderers and Western United, has missed the start of the A-League Men’s campaign due to a knee injury sustained in the lead-up to the first game of the season. He had featured in most of their preseason fixtures, including a game against Newcastle Jets at Bunbury’s Hay Park at the start of October. Speaking to media on Tuesday, Zdrilic said he was disappointed to have lost the full-back on the eve of the season. “He was one of the guys that played every game and did every training session, pretty much in the whole preseason, and then before the first game, a couple days before, he got injured,” Zdrilic said. “That’s the way it is. But at least for us, it’s great to have him back and available for selection and we’ve got another couple days, so we’ll see how it goes.” Risdon’s return would bolster a Perth defence which has conceded a league-worst 13 goals so far this season, with the side sitting 12th on the 13-team competition’s ladder having taken only one point from their first four games. The Glory will head Sydney for the clash as part of the league’s Unite Round, which sees all of the competition’s games played around the city. Their game kicks off at 2.30pm WA time at Allianz Stadium.
