A bull shark roaming the Swan River has swimmers and other water users on high alert.

The shark has been detected multiple times in the past three days and the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development warned that there was a likelihood of encountering the predator in the Blackwall Reach area.

The shark was tagged and released at Minim Cove on December 12.

DPIRD advised to adhere to beach closures, use your sea sense and stay informed by checking to shark activity on the SharkSmart website.

Officers will continue to monitor the situation and update the public accordingly.

What to do:

If you see a shark, report it to Water Police on 9442 8600. All shark sighting information reported to Water Police is provided to land managers and relevant authorities and to the public on the SharkSmart website, SharkSmart WA app and @SLSWA on X.
