A motorcyclist has died overnight after being flung from his bike riding north of Carnarvon.

The 28-year-old rider was heading south near Minilya when it is believed a bag lodged in his rear wheel, causing the wheel to lock up.

He received life threatening injuries as a result of the crash, and was later pronounced dead after being transported by ambulance to the Coral Bay nursing post.

Major Crash investigators are seeking witnesses who may have seen the man in the area prior to the crash.

The motorbike was a 2011-model black and silver Suzuki.
