Geraldton hockey week 5 overview: Big scoring Rovers and Yacht Club claim wins

Rovers and Yacht Club have picked up big wins in week five of the men’s A-grade GHA hockey season.

Casuals defeated Saints 3-1 with goals from Clint Yeates, Ted Kerr and Dan Golding.

Rovers claimed a 6-1 win over Australs. Jayden Valenti scored twice while Riley McKoy, Aiden McDowell, Brayden Kietzmann and James Van Niftrik had one each. Kane Trenneman scored a consolation goal for Australs.

Meanwhile, Yacht Club thrashed Murchison 5-0, with Duncan Cooper and Corin Berrigan scoring twice while Sonny Hunt also got on the score sheet.

In the women’s A-grade, Australs beat Saints 1-0. Arizona Galbraith scored the winner for her side.

Cardinals thrashed Murchison 7-0. Gemma Dix was the hat-trick hero for Cardinals while Cam McKoy scored twice. Sian Crudeli and Dayna Cooper also chipped in with one goal each.

Their was a double-header on Tuesday night in the men’s A-reserve, as Rovers put five past Murchison.

Mac Hoffhammer had a double while Ashton Palmer, Damon Valenti and Jarrod Heelan scored one apiece.

Meanwhile Casuals beat YC 6-1, with Brad Delane and Angus Grant scoring twice.

On Saturday, Rovers beat Saints 5-1, with goals from Shaphan Palmer, Kane Smallwood, Ashton Palmer and Brayden Kietzmann.

Yacht Club defeated Murchison 5-0. Jay O’Sullivan, Ethan Burnet and Sunni Hunt were the goal scorers for YC.

In the women’s A-reserve, Murchison grabbed a 2-0 win over YC.

Saints Gold defeated Australs 4-0. Chelsea Bradburn scored twice for her side.

Vets picked up a 1-0 win over Swans, with Cheryl Walton scoring the winner.

Saints Black beat Cardinals 1-0 with Emma Smith scoring the single goal for Saints.
