Exmouth won both their league and women’s footy games in the Gascoyne competition on Saturday.

The Exmouth women’s side beat Carnarvon 7.7 (49) to 3.8 (26), while the Exmouth Eagles beat the Carnarvon Boomers 14.14 (98) to 7.7 (49).

Jamie Brooks, Summer Mollross and Elysha Paris were the best players for Exmouth in the women’s game and Akim Lual, Taneesha Finch, Abigail Livingstone and Natalie Crossley were Carnarvon’s best.

Gascoyne Football Association secretary Tessa Daly said it was looking likely there would be a dedicated women’s competition next season after the association successfully held women’s scratch matches this season. “There are very promising signs that there will be at least a two-team competition next year, if not a three-team competition,” she said.

The two women’s teams will meet again next Saturday on grand final day for the final game of the year.

In the league, Boomers put up a good fight but ran out of legs late on in the game.

The Eagles will play the Carnarvon Ramblers at home for the final round of the season next Saturday before meeting again in Carnarvon for the premiership.

The matchup should be exciting as as Exmouth are a tough team to break down, especially at home, and will be looking to break the Ramblers’ winning streak.

Ramblers are 16 points clear at the top of the league table on 28.

Warriors won in the three Carnarvon junior grades.

They beat Kingsford Lions in the youth competition 9.11 (65) to 1.3 (9) and beat the same opposition in the nippers, 8.5 (53) to 2.3 (15).

In the colts, Warriors beat Ramblers 16.14 (110) to 3.6 (24).

Despite the win for Warriors, Ramblers stayed top in the youth division on 26 points, eight ahead of Warriors.

Ramblers had a bye this round.

Warriors are top in the nippers, 20 points ahead of Kingsford Lions in second place.

Warriors are also top in the colts on 32 points, 24 ahead of Ramblers.
