Yullella Aboriginal Corporation pitches in to help after kitchen fire at Meekatharra’s Royal Mail Hotel

Yullella Aboriginal Corporation has hired its food van to the Royal Mail Hotel in Meekatharra to help get staff there back on their feet after their kitchen went up in flames last week. “They gave us a very good price and all the money we pay is going back into the community,” hotel manager Anna Marie Desfosses said. The van will be parked in the beer garden until the kitchen is back in working order. “We’ll be getting our exercise running back and forth,” Ms Desfosses said. There are only a few places to eat in Meekatharra, and Yullella Aboriginal Corporation general manager Daryl Curley said he was happy to help as the other venues in town had been overwhelmed with food orders. “The hotel usually serve 30-40 people a night,” he said. Mr Curley said the food van was usually for “cooking food for the mob”. It will put the profits towards activities and food for children in the community.
