Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan opens Carnarvon’s new Italian deli, backed by RED grant
A new delicatessen and catering business with a distinct Italian flavour has opened up in Carnarvon thanks to a $100,000 kickstart from a State Government funding scheme.
Outgoing Regional Development Minister Alannah MacTiernan visited Carnarvon last week to officially open the new commercial kitchen showcasing the Gascoyne food bowl’s premier local produce.
Taste of Italy by Valeria, which serves breakfast and lunch Italian-influenced cuisine to the Carnarvon community, was supported by the McGowan Government’s $45.8 million Regional Economic Development Grants program.
The scheme aims to enhance economic development and job creation in regional WA, with more than 45 new Gascoyne-based jobs created through investment in local businesses and community initiatives since it started in 2018.
“We have supported owner and operator Valeria Lucchitto to build her small business, providing $100,000 toward the project,” Ms MacTiernan said.
“Valeria’s food and flavours showcase Carnarvon’s amazing local produce and are helping to put the region on the culinary map.
“We want visitors to know that Carnarvon is a great place to stop and stay on their way north.”
