Students from a Mid West school are preaching to the choir when it comes to promoting the value and spirit of Telethon.

The Northampton District High School choir has taken part in an online campaign in the lead-up to this weekend’s televised charity extravaganza.

It was one of more than 40 schools to feature in a State-wide collaboration, where more than 1500 students sang Guy Sebastian’s hit anthem Choir.

The video was released on the Telethon Facebook page on Sunday night, which featured Sebastian — who will headline Telethon 2024’s entertainment line-up — giving an introduction.

Meanwhile, the children performed alongside members of the Perth Symphony Orchestra, with Premier Roger Cook also making an appearance.

While the majority of students gathered at Perth’s Elizabeth Quay for the performance, Northampton DHS performed remotely, as did a number of other regional schools.

Sebastian spoke highly of WA, saying he couldn’t wait to be a part of Telethon this year.

“Telethon is a celebration of the incredible spirit of West Australians coming together for its people,” he told The West Australian.

“It’s about making life better for our sickest and most vulnerable children — when we unite, we are unstoppable.

“I am so happy to join other incredible Australian talents to make a difference.”

The theme for this year’s Telethon is “incredible together” which serves as a reminder of the impact people can have when they join forces.

The choir video is available on Telethon’s Facebook page and will be broadcast on Telethon weekend, which takes place over 26 hours on October 19 and 20.
