Coorow-Latham have redeemed their loss from last year’s preliminary final after they took down Carnamah-Perenjori 12.13 (85) to 4.7 (31) on Saturday.

The Magpies looked set to reach another grand final last year after finishing second on the ladder.

But the Kangaroos had different plans in last year’s preliminary finals, knocking out Coorow by 18 points before going on to win the North Midlands Football League flag.

This year both teams look set up to contend again and faced off in the round four clash at Perenjori during Belt Up round.

Coorow dominated the start of the match, outscoring Carnamah 21-2 in the first quarter and then going into the half-time break up 44-3.

The Kangaroos have not had trouble hitting the scoreboard this year but could not find a goal in the first half against the Magpies.

The reigning premiers found better luck in the second half but could do little to stop the Magpies from running away with a 54-point victory.

The match’s top goal kicker was Rhai-Arn Cox for Coorow, who booted four goals in the win along with two from Jacob Comley. Tim Steele kicked two goals for Carnamah in the loss.

After the match, Coorow-Latham’s Aiden D’Souza was named the Belt Up best-on-ground and presented the game ball.

At Dongara, the Eagles picked up their second win of the season over the Bulldogs in a 10.10 (70) to 7.8 (50) contest.

Despite the improvements Mingenew have made this year, they could not get over the line as Dongara have already doubled their win total from last season.

Lester Drummond’s three goals earnt him the Belt Up best-on-ground award, while Dale Williamson added two in the win.

While Three Springs also enjoyed a day out as they picked up a 17.7 (109) to 9.5 (59) win over Morawa at home.

Trio Keenan Mawson, Bailey Mutter and Kamalh Papertalk each kicked three goals during the Bombers’ win, while a bag of five from Clayton Dongara was not enough for the Tigers.

Three Springs’ Rex Heberle was awarded the Belt Up best-on-ground award for a third consecutive year.

Round five has the two early contenders in Coorow-Latham and Three Springs doing battle at Coorow’s stomping ground, while Mingenew host Carnamah-Perenjori and Dongara travel to Morawa.
