New land release in Carnarvon a boon for Gascoyne

A land release in Carnarvon from the State Government is set to significantly expand horticultural production in the Gascoyne, drive new local jobs and build critical mass on the river.

Expressions of interest have opened for experienced parties to establish horticulture enterprises on seven parcels of land, totalling 300 hectares, to the north and east of the Carnarvon horticulture precinct.

The prime horticultural land is the Government’s second Gascoyne land release.

The new land release complements a Stage One release in 2019 and will be supported by a specific water allocation, serviced by a new 25 kilometre pipeline and electric power supply to guarantee high quality water.

Agriculture and Food Minister Alannah MacTiernan said the land release was the result of years of extensive collaboration by industry, community, traditional owners and government.
