Murchison fatal: More than $7000 raised to help with funeral costs for road crash victim David Breese

Thousands of dollars have been raised for the family of a popular driller who was killed in a road crash in the Murchison earlier this month to give him “a send-off he’d be proud of”. A friend organised the GoFundMe page on behalf of David Breese’s family. In three days, the fundraising campaign has raised $7235, far exceeding its goal of $5000. “For all those who loved and adored Breesy. Let’s give him a send-off he’d be proud of and support his beautiful family during this difficult time,” page organiser and friend Stevie Johns wrote. Mr Breese, 36, died when the he lost control of the truck he was driving on the Carnarvon-Mullewa Road in the Murchison on Sunday, August 14. The Dongara-based driller worked in many parts of WA, after moving back west a couple of years ago following a stint living in the Northern Territory. Friends and family will farewell him at a funeral in Perth on Friday, September 9. His family has remembered Mr Breese as a “beautiful and mischievous free spirit” who was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. Mr Breese’s mother Beverley Breese said her son would make friends wherever he went and left so many people with treasured memories of just being in his company. “It didn’t matter who they were — nationality or colour — he accepted someone for who they were, and that was him,” she said. “There were so many mischievous things he would get up to, and then he would flutter his eyelashes and grin at you and you were like, ‘whatever’. “All his life he’s done what David wants to do. He’s such a free spirit, it’s like we could never pin him down. “We’ve always been there for each other if we ever needed it.
