The year 2022 held a number of challenges and celebrations for the Shire of Mt Magnet.

The year started with a once-in-a-century flood and the heavy rains continued for much of the year.

We embraced the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program funding, built a 40m tower and partnered with Node One to provide our community with super high-speed internet.

After years of poor access, it’s terrific to feel part of the wider world again and it arrived just in time for all of the COVID isolations — Netflix had a hammering.

Next year promises to be exciting with many events and functions. We’ve begun consulting the community to develop a master plan for our recreation precinct at last.

After many years of planning, the conservation and preservation of our old school, building is about to begin. The outdoor cinema is also getting a facelift.

Work has started on our RV park, designed specifically to welcome self-contained travellers to our town, as well as an extension to our caravan park.

Travel safe over the holidays, enjoy precious time with family and come visit us in the new year.
