Minister Rita Saffioti officially opens Geraldton’s new shared Department of Transport and Main Roads building

Transport Minister Rita Saffioti officially opened Geraldton’s new Main Roads and Department of Transport office on Monday, which provides a “one-stop-shop” for customers in the Mid West. Located on Eastward Road, the new $14 million purpose-built facility offers 11 new counters for DoT customer service, 84 open plan work stations, eight conference rooms and a Main Roads office. The building was officially completed in June 2022 and provided more than 250 local jobs. Ms Saffioti said the new building would provide critical services to the Geraldton and Mid West community, offering licencing, maritime and transport functions in one place. “The co-location of both Main Roads and DoT will provide opportunities to better collaborate on important transport projects and services,” she said. Geraldton MLA Lara Dalton said the facility was a fantastic outcome for the people of Geraldton and would allow for better communication on transport issues in the region. “I have advocated strongly for improved services in our region. This new facility will deliver better outcomes for our community,” she said.
