Midwest Banner Project in Mingenew took a trail walk from the Primary School finished at Cecil Newton Park

Mingenew was banner ready last Thursday, as the town saw an eager group of participants take to the walking trail — and a car trip on the driving trail — to view meaningful community messages. Unlike the Kalbarri and Beachlands project, Mingenew offered a driving trail as well as a walking trail. More than 10 families shared their messages in town, and even more branched out from Yandanooka, Ikewa and all the way to Yarragadee to hang their message. Banners were displayed early, sending colour throughout the town — and with bright eyes and wide smiles, families walked around the trail of messages. On Thursday, June 23, a group gathered at Mingenew Primary School to celebrate the unity and diversity that makes up the community by walking the trail. Organiser and Fremantle artist Alex Desebrock said the turnout was fantastic, and the school students in Mingenew showed a real enthusiasm. “Mingenew was a little different, there was a walking tour and a driving tour, and a lot more kids — it was really cute,” she said. “A lot of the banners showed the town’s love for the country, the care for the community, and how much people love and give to the community to make it what it is.
