Jordan Cross: Geraldton man given supervision order after being caught with cannabis plants and $3500 in cash

A man who was caught with five cannabis plants and $3558 in cash after a police raid has been given an intensive supervision order. Jordan Cross, 27, was caught with the plants and cash when police raided his home in Mt Tarcoola on May 27, 2021, where an extendable baton was also found. Police prosecutor Sergeant Ross Gray said Cross intended to sell and supply the cannabis to friends, while using some of it himself. Cross had previously been charged with possessing 27 plants, but this was reduced to five as police accepted the rest did not belong to him. He spent more than 100 days in custody before the charges were reduced and he pleaded guilty, his lawyer George Giudice pointed out. Mr Giudice also said Cross struggled with substance abuse and needed treatment. Magistrate Angus Hockton gave Cross an 11-month intensive supervision order, acknowledging his treatment needs but also stating drug cultivation and dealing has a serious impact on the community. “When you give someone cannabis, you don’t know where it goes. . . many people we see here were either under the influence of drugs or were trying to obtain some drugs,” Mr Hockton said.
