A Mid West fashionista has made it into the final of a prestigious WA catwalk contest and will strut her stuff later this month against the State’s finest-outfitted women.

Dongara woman Jessica Kirkland is one of 12 finalists in Fashions on the Field competition, which will be held at Ascot Racecourse on November 28.

After winning the Geraldton Turf Club Melbourne Cup Fashions on the Field, Ms Kirkland and the winners of 27 other heats were put forward to the Racing and Wagering Western Australia judging panel, who selected the top 10, with a further two contestants voted in by a public vote.

Ms Kirkland is now in the running to win the ultimate racing prize, including a trip for two to London to attend the 2021 Royal Ascot meeting, $10,000, and a $5000 Linneys voucher.

Racing and Wagering WA racing general manager Charlotte Mills said it was a strong field of finalists this year.

“Each entrant curated a beautiful ensemble which embodies the essence of race-day fashion — style, creativity and attention to detail,” she said. “The Fashions on the Field final at Ascot is the pinnacle of spring racing fashion and I am delighted to see such a diverse, colourful and innovative field of heat winners from across the State.”

Any female winner of a Fashions on the Field competition held at a WA thoroughbred race club, and each virtual Fashions Off the Field heat winner, was able to nominate themselves for the 2020 WA Fashions on the Field final.

The final will be held as part of the Crown Perth Winterbottom Stakes Day.
