Preseason has started and the North Midlands Football League is gearing up for the 2024 season with the release of its fixtures.

Round one will start at the end of next month, with the first slate of games being played on April 27.

The headline game of that round is a rematch of the 2023 grand final.

Carnamah Perenjori enter the season as the reigning champions after their upset victory over Three Springs in last year’s decider, where the Roos pulled out the win 13.12 (90) to 11.10 (76).

The thrilling finals run that Carnamah went on last year led them to the third premiership in club history and they will have a target on their back coming into the 2024 season.

While they entered the grand final as the favourites, Three Springs will be looking to repeat their efforts from last season that saw the Bombers finish as the minor premiers in 2023 after taking the wooden spoon in 2022.

In the other round one matches, Coorow Latham will be out for redemption this season after they were stunned in the semifinals last year and failed to make the grand final.

They will face off against against a Dongara side that managed just one win last year but come into this season with a clean slate.

Morawa and Mingenew will clash in the third match-up, with Mingenew looking to improve after missing out on finals last year when they were minor premiers just the season prior.

Round three will see teams looking colourful for the league-wide pink round on May 11 and the following round will be the Belt Up round.

The first league bye will come in the long weekend on June 1 between rounds five and six. The second bye comes after round 10 on July 13 to accommodate for the country championships.

Round 14 will see games played on Sunday due to the Perenjori show, with the Carnamah Perenjori versus Coorow Latham and Three Springs versus Morawa clashes all being hosted on August 11, while Dongara versus Mingenew will still be played on the Saturday.

The finals hosts have already been set, with the semifinals being played in Dongara and Mingenew on August 24 and 25 and the preliminary final will be the following week in Morawa.

The grand final will be hosted by reigning premiers Carnamah on September 7.
