GNFL Womens Season 2022 Round 1
In the opening game of the 2022 GNFL Women’s season, the Towns defeated the Rovers 16.10 (106) to 1.0 (6) at WA Country Builders Stadium on Friday Night.
Towns got off to a 33 to 0 lead at quarter time and never looked like slowing down, holding their opponents to just a single goal.
Ashleigh Jones was prolific in front of goal for the Towns kicking four while Brooklyn Cullen added three to her tally.
Among the best players for the Towns were Lani Paradella, Olivia Bidwell, Ava Gould, Michaela Clarke and Kasey Maynard.
On Saturday afternoon, the Railways Women’s secured a four-point win over the Brigades Women’s at GBSC Sports Park.
Clancy Hann, Kylie Latham and Jasmin Walsh chipped in with one goal each in their side’s 3.14 (32) to 4.4 (28) victory.
The Railway’s only had themselves to blame for the close score as they lacked accuracy in front of goal, racking up 14 behinds for the game.
The Brigades’ Courtney Zappara was a bright spot for her team, kicking two goals.
In the other game of the day, Chapman Valley got the best of the Rams, prevailing 6.5 (41) to 2.3 (15) at Mazzucchelli Oval.
Kayley Sorensen, Cassandra Green, Taylah Broadhurst, Brooke Elward and Sian Edwards were best on ground for Chapman Valley.
Tayah Palmer lead the way for the Royals with two goals.
