It was business as usual for Geraldton’s water polo giants, as both Demons and B52’s secured strong victories in the men’s and women’s A-grade divisions during round four.

In the women’s A-grade match, B52’s continued their winning streak with a commanding 7-1 victory over Rats.

B52’s delivered a well-rounded performance, led by Keshi McGagh, Aimee Hagan, and Emma Smith, who each scored two goals and played pivotal roles in shutting down Rats’ forward play. In goal, Taylor Perry was a stand-out, denying any Rats attempts that slipped through B52’s solid defensive lines.

The men’s A-grade saw Demons dominate against Rats, with last season’s grand finalists taking an 11-2 win. Despite missing key player Luke Nuewert, Rats fought on.

However, Demons proved too strong with Cruze Henderson, Zacc Cross and goalkeeper Drew MacGregor showcasing their skill. Rats had brief moments of promise with Ollie Green and Darcy Wiffen netting impressive third quarter goals.

Other A-grade players participated in composite teams, marking an opportunity to audition for the highly competitive 2025 Geraldton country week squad.

With country week to be held in Busselton in February, players are vying for a limited 13 to 15 positions, making selection tougher than ever.

In women’s B-grade, B52’s narrowly defeated Rats 8-6. Casey McGagh was pivotal in B52’s win, while Sophia Kalazich gave an outstanding effort for Rats.

Meanwhile, Demons’ B-grade team prevailed over Serpents 9-4, thanks to consistent performances from Billy Marshall, Mirika Hall, and Maddy Marshall.

Relics took down Rats 8-4 in men’s B-grade, driven by a stellar game from Noah Scott, who scored in each quarter.

Women’s C-grade matchups saw Serpents Green and Serpents Blue play in a thrilling draw, while Demons Black claimed victory in a tense Friday showdown against B52’s, emerging with a 6-4 win. Demons Yellow fell short against Rats Black 8-4.

In men’s C-grade, B52’s edged out Rats with a hard-fought 9-8 victory, with Lucas Ronan leading the charge for B52’s. However, Rats’ young stand-out Myles Crawford impressed with four goals.
