Geraldton Water Polo League round nine wrap: B52’s on the charge in men’s and women’s competition

In round nine of the Geraldton water polo season the women’s A-grade B52’s fought hard to extend their ladder lead on Friday night, with a well-earned 4–2 victory over a resurgent Demons side.

Aimee and Abbie Hagan were in superb form, providing relentless forward play for the victors. Taylor Penny was solid in goal, keeping B52’s in the game.

The Demons played well and hit the goal frame more than a dozen times, with Billie Marshall and Saskia Newman showing excellent form for their team. Next round, the B52’s will face the Rats on Saturday.

In men’s A-grade on Saturday, B52’s claimed another victory, this time with a commanding 10–3 win over the Rats.

Kurt Tunbridge led the way with five goals, while the father-son duo of Daniel and Leo Prout added four more between them.

The Rats had promising moments, with young gun Bohdi Smith scoring a goal and setting up other opportunities. Round 10 will see the Rats hopeful for a win when they face the Demons.

Men’s B-grade action saw B52’s maintain their winning streak with a dominant 14–2 win over the Rats. Leo Prout, Jimmy Horsman, and Angus Hallinan shone for the B52’s.

Meanwhile, the Relics returned to form with a 9–3 victory over the Demons. Next round, the Relics will take on the Rats, while the B52s aim to extend their lead against the Demons.

In women’s B-grade, the Rats swam circles around the Serpents, securing an impressive 14–3 win.

The B52’s had a hard-fought 8–5 victory over the Demons, with Michelle and Evie Prout ensuring the male members of their family didn’t take all the glory, scoring four goals between them.

Next round will feature the Rats versus the B52’s and the Serpents against the Demons.

In the men’s C grade game, B52’s came from two goals behind to beat Demons 6-5.

Women’s C-grade action resulted in Rats Black suffering a 10–7 loss to Serpents Blue, while Serpents Green edged out the B52s in a narrow 6–5 win.

Next round will see the men’s B52’s face the Rats. In the women’s competition, B52’s play Serpents Blue, Rats Orange meet Serpents Green, and Rats Black take on Demons Black
