Geraldton soccer season starts as La Fiamma earns point away from home
La Fiamma played out a thrilling 4-4 draw away from home against Noranda City in the State Amateur League on Sunday afternoon.
Kumbi Dzoma opened the scoring for the reds early on in the match, but a penalty awarded to Noranda allowed them to equalise.
They were soon back in front as La Fiamma’s Will Cable scored from a set piece to give the reds a 2-1 lead.
Captain Lachlan Gray scored from a penalty rebound to put them up 3-1 heading into half-time.
Noranda came out strong in the second half, catching La Fiamma off guard, scoring three quick-fire goals to give them a 4-3 lead.
However, with five minutes to go Athallah Aman scored a 25-yard screamer to earn his side a vital away point.
The 2022 Geraldton soccer season started on a sunny Saturday afternoon at GBSC Sports Park.
In the reserves, Rovers SC drew nil all against Abrolhos Thors, while the Abrolhos Odins had a bye.
It was a good day for Olympic FC, scoring wins in both the reserves and league competition.
Their reserves won 3-0 over Chapman Athletic SC, while the league side opened their season with a 5-1 win over Abrolhos FC.
In the final game of the round, Rovers SC beat Chapman Athletic 3-1 .
La Fiamma’s league side had a bye for this weekend.
