Geraldton racers compete in annual Best in the West motocross competition
Geraldton locals were among the competitors in the anticipated Best in the West motocross event in Bunbury, where racers showcased their skills over five rounds.
The event brings out some of the top competitors from across the State.
Despite the scorching heat and increasingly challenging track conditions, the Geraldton racers managed to make an impact in the strong competition.
Stand-out competitor and Geraldton local Eddie Fay said it was good to be back on the track after missing time.
“It was so good to be back racing after missing the last two events, the track was good but got pretty rough, which showed how tough nationals are going to be,” he said.
“I was happy with my weekend, but my fitness let me down, so I have come home with some commitments to get to my training each week and get back to form.”
This year’s edition drew competitors not only from across Western Australia but also from interstate and overseas.
The significance of the Bunbury track was emphasised because it will host the Australian Junior MX Nationals in September, turning the venue into a hotspot for juniors to hone their skills leading up to the national championships.
In the wake of this thrilling event, the motocross community eagerly anticipates the continued success of Geraldton competitors and looks forward to their performances in future competitions, including the upcoming Australian Junior MX Nationals.
The event was run on the weekend of March 2-3.
