Geraldton mothers get support on mental health at Desert Blue Connect’s Mum’s Wellbeing Expo

About 150 people have taken to the QEII Centre in Geraldton to learn more about improving mental health for mothers-to-be. On Tuesday, November 19, attendees gathered at the event to shine a light on perinatal mental health. The event was hosted by Desert Blue Connect, and offered several resources, activities and support for mothers at any stage of their journey. Personal addresses from guest speakers, as well as a mums and bubs yoga session were among the highlights. Stalls showcasing local businesses also took part, offering insight into early childhood programs and therapy options among other expert advice. Women’s health nurses were on hand to give personal one-on-one advice, while kids were entertained with face painting, toy demonstrations and activities hosted by local playgroups. Desert Blue Connect community initiative officer Meg Gibson said the intention was to keep the community informed about what was available to them in the Mid West. “This event was all about connection, education, and providing a safe, supportive space for mums to feel empowered,” she said. “It’s incredible to see so many people come together to prioritise the wellbeing of mums and families in our community. “We hope everyone walked away feeling more connected and informed about the resources in our community.”
