Geraldton & Districts Senior Citizens Action Group celebrates 41st birthday with celebration at QEII Centre

Friendship and fellowship were celebrated as 70 members and guests gathered to mark the 41st birthday of the Seniors Action Group. The event on Saturday, July 20, at the QEII Centre saw president Trevor Hansen welcome everyone and the party getting started thanks to the music of duo Bob and Elaine, also known as Koffee and Kream. The pair entertained with their singing and banter throughout the party. Door prize winners were Barby Shaw, Jan Bailey, Judy Kendrick-Currell and Lesley Robinson, while card prize winners were Carol Sutherland, Jan Bailey, Jean Yeates, Liz Collis, Kaye Morgan, Doreen Major, Ernie Thompson, Dorothy Boddington and Elaine McGregor. Mr Hansen gave a speech reflecting on a number of our beloved members we miss after passing away. He also thanked Pavlina and Rosetta for their support to the club before finishing with a suitable poem. Quite a few new members have joined us this year, which is a great outcome after numbers fell away during and after COVID years. We were thoroughly spoilt by a delicious lunch of vegetable tart, roast beef and vegetables and sticky date pudding, which was prepared and served by our wonderful caterer Angie and her team. The first five winners for the major raffle prizes were Ernie Thompson, Trevor Hansen, Di Faranda, Jan Bailey and Jean Steer. There were many more prizes but too numerous to mention here. Big thank yous also go to Dexter for the fantastic painting he gave for the first prize, to all those who set up and cleaned up the venue and the extra efforts made by committee members, especially Carol and Judy.
