Frances Pollock of Wooleen Station in the Murchison wins FACET Golden Guide award for tourism customer service

Frances Pollock from Wooleen Station in the Murchison has been honoured for her outstanding contribution to the tourism industry. Ms Pollock was one of three people to be recognised at last week’s Perth Airport WA Tourism Conference dinner. Together with her husband David, Ms Pollock runs the quarter of a million acre cattle station, Wooleen Station, which has been owned by the Pollock family since 1990. The family has transformed the station and its homestead into a luxurious farm stay for visitors to experience the rugged beauty of the outback, while preserving and sustaining the unique ecology of the region. The FACET Golden Guide Award Winners were announced at the tourism conference last week, with Ms Pollock winning the individual excellence in customer service award. She was recognised for being a wonderful ambassador for the tourism industry, with judges praising her considered and friendly customer service journey that allows guests to experience a personalised and authentic homestead experience. Tourism Council WA chief executive officer Evan Hall said the tourism industry was made possible thanks to the passionate people who tirelessly worked towards showcasing WA to visitors. “The individual awards provided an opportunity for three of these people to be recognised for their commitment to creating innovative and friendly experiences to Western Australia’s visitors,” he said. Ms Pollock has previously chaired Gascoyne Murchison Tourism and is deputy chair of Australia’s Golden Outback, representing the Gascoyne-Murchison sub region. Ms Pollock said she was passionate about tourism and customer service and it was her goal that her visitors enjoyed every moment at Wooleen and felt connected to country.
