Department of Communities to hold seniors consultation sessions in Geraldton and Carnarvon later this month

A Department of Communities research project is encouraging senior members of the community to join two workshop sessions to have their say on support provided to older Western Australians. The consultation sessions are coming to Geraldton and Carnarvon this month and are designed to support older citizens of all backgrounds. Department of Communities would like to hear from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over the age of 55, non-Aboriginal people over the age of 65 and people approaching their senior years. The consultation will cover questions such as how the community finds enjoyment and a sense of belonging, challenges, participation in community, ideas for changing the lives of WA seniors and feeling valued. Geraldton residents have the opportunity to comment at two sessions on Monday, May 30, which will be run from 10am to 12pm and 12.30pm to 2.30pm at the Geraldton Multipurpose Centre. On Tuesday, May 31, Carnarvon residents will have their turn to comment in two sessions at Gwoonwardu Mia Aboriginal Heritage and Cultural Centre at the same times. The public consultation is a State-wide process facilitated by Indigenous Professional Services Management Consultants on behalf of the department.
