Geraldton Motocross Club held its second round of competition over the weekend as young rider Chevy Fenner avoided serious injury after a scary spill on lap one.

In the final of the 85cc division, a fast start saw racers pushing hard with Fenner unfortunately squeezed out and crashing along the back straight.

The race was halted as ambulance crews attended the young rider, who was transferred to hospital but fortunately escaped any serious harm.

His dad Joshua Fenner praised the quick response from the club and support workers.

“Everyone involved did an awesome job especially the ambulance crew. I was worried that he might have broken something,” he said.

“He went for full scans but everything came back normal other than the concussion, he doesn’t remember much but was asking when the next race meeting was.”

After the restart, Sonny Fay claimed the top spot, followed by Digby Johns and Jaxson Monoghan.

In the A-grade category, Seth Patience, Ricky Edwards, and Jared Blakeney were all tied for first place, showcasing some incredible skills and speed on the track, with all three men neck-and-neck for large portions of the races.

The joint first place, a ‘first’ for the division and the club, was testament to the high level of competition this season.

Round one winner and joint round 2 winner Ricky Edwards shared his competitors’ amazement about the three-way tie.

“Awesome racing from all the boys today, really kept me on my toes, hopefully, we’ll get ‘em next time. And we will produce more awesome racing next round,” he said.

In the B-grade category, Mackinnley Orr, as he continues to recover well from injury last season, took home the top spot, with Sean Anderson and Shay Bloxsidge coming in second and third.

Makala Edwards claimed first place in the C-grade, followed by Sam Harrison and Darcie Dawson.
