Carnarvon police arrest four juveniles, two due in court over burglaries and stealing offences

Carnarvon police arrested four juveniles aged as young as 10 on Monday after an alleged weekend spree of burglaries and stealing offences, ranging from house break-ins to caravan park theft.

Police said the four boys were arrested after a successful police chase.

Carnarvon Police Station officer-in-charge Sen. Sgt Mark Ardley said all four boys were refused bail and charged with a total of 20 offences.

“Bail was refused for four juvenile offenders who went on a bit of a crime spree last weekend,” Sen. Sgt Ardley said.

Police said the offences were a mixture of home and store break-ins and stealing of bikes from caravan parks.

Sen. Sgt Ardley said the juvenile boys were aged 10, 13, 14 and 15, who were all known to police.

“Once police identified them based on the information we received, we tracked them down within a matter of days,” he said.

“They were apprehended on Sunday and Monday morning.”

The 14 and 15-year-old juveniles were charged with trespass, burglary and stealing, and were due to face the Carnarvon Magistrates Court on Tuesday, May 31.

The 10 and 13-year-olds have been referred to the juvenile justice system due to their age.
