There will be a live broadcast of an Australian play at three venues in the Mid West on Friday, May 18, from 7.30pm.

Summer of the Seventeenth Doll takes viewers back to 1950s working class Melbourne and follows four characters attempting to party in the city.

The 2018 Lotterywest Live Broadcast is being described as an opportunity for people who live in the bush to enjoy Perth performances from the comfort of their own towns.

Lotterywest chief executive Susan Hunt said the organisation was proud to support the broadcast.

“What a lot of people don’t realise is that every time you purchase a Lotterywest product you support the people of Western Australia,” Ms Hunt said.

“Lotterywest supports almost $270 million of grants per year to the Western Australian community.

“And that’s on top of the $440 million that goes to winners every year in Western Australia.

“In this case, people in regional communities will have the opportunity to experience high-quality live theatre without travelling to the city.”

Audiences in Geraldton, Moora and Three Springs will be admitted to the screenings free of charge at Queens Park Theatre, Moora Performing Arts Centre and Three Springs Community Hall.

Pre-show entertainment begins at 7.20pm.
