A Geraldton home invader who touched an eight-year-old girl and whispered to her during a terrifying and bizarre break-in earlier this year will stand trial in relation to a separate charge next year.

Jamie Phillip Mongoo appeared in Geraldton Magistrates Court on Monday charged with 23 offences.

The 33-year-old man previously pleaded guilty in August to common assault, home burglary and trespassing in relation to the home burglary in the Geraldton suburb of Strathalbyn.

The court was told negotiations between Mongoo’s lawyer Eva Svanberg and police had been unsuccessful.

Mongoo entered a not guilty plea to an amended charge of aggravated home burglary with intent on June 6, 2022 at Spalding. He is yet to plead to an alleged home burglary in Waggrakine and a stealing charge in Utakarra.

He will reappear in Geraldton District Court on March 1 for a trial allocation date. He will then appear in the magistrates court for mention only on March 2.

Bail was not considered and Mongoo has been remanded in custody.
