A manhunt is under way after a man was shot at a home in South East Queensland.

Emergency services were called to a Bushman St property in Plainland in the Lockyer Valley just before 6am on Thursday following reports a firearm had been discharged.

A 31-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his upper body.

He was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment.

Police believe the offender fled the scene.

A crime scene has been established.

Anyone with information has been urged to come forward.
