After a five-year hiatus, the Dive In movie sessions have made a triumphant return to the Exmouth swimming pool social calendar.

Almost 90 locals of all ages turned up to the Paltridge Memorial Swimming Pool on Friday to have a splash and watch the hit film Raya and the last Dragon.

Shire president Darlene Allston said the program aimed to provide more family-friendly activities for locals to enjoy.

“The initiative is relaunched to create more safe social spaces for children in our community, and council is very excited to have this outdoor event revived,” she said.

“’The pool precinct is a great space to encourage families to gather and spend quality time together. Council strongly encourages our community and visitors to grab their family or a couple of friends to enjoy an evening out at the movies; the more, the merrier.”

Ms Allston said the Shire welcomed community feedback on the program to help plan and deliver additional screenings during the next pool season.

How to Train your Dragon — The Hidden World will show at the pool on March 12, with gates opening at 6.30pm.

Movie showings are targeted towards the 8-14 age group, but all are welcome to enjoy a picnic and a film by the pool.

The sessions are fully-supervised and drugs and alcohol are prohibited.
