Chris Bowie’s tenure as Boulder president in the Goldfields Football League will extend into a third season after his reappointment at last Sunday’s annual general meeting.

He is backed by Matt Worthington as vice-president, with Andra Webb retained as secretary.

Bowie has been at the helm since taking over from Greg (Shack) Evans early in the 2023 season, with his tenure underpinned by a commitment to bringing players seeking employment opportunities in the region to the club.

Those ongoing efforts have already secured ruckman Zak Barrett and key position player Dustin Walters from Victoria for the 2025 season.

Their arrivals are among a push to improve on a modest 2024 season when Boulder — GFL premiers in 2023 — officially finished fourth after losing the first semifinal against Kalgoorlie.

Bowie said talks with various interested parties about the club’s senior coaching position were under way but nothing was yet finalised.

Simon Edwards was thrust into the role this year when Aaron Sweet stepped down after leading the team to a memorable victory against Railways in the 2023 grand final.

Despite the league group’s struggles, Boulder this year completed back-to-back reserves flags under Brenton Marr.
