Inside The Block judge Shaynna Blaze’s new career move

The Block judge Shaynna Blaze has announced a new career move as a singer, revealing she will be releasing her debut single in May.

The TV personality, who is also an interior designer and author, announced to her Instagram followers that her song “Warrior” would be released on May 3.

“Here we go … so excited to release my first single ‘Warrior’ on May 3,” Blaze wrote in a post on her Instagram page.

“This track means so much to me. I can’t wait to share it with you.”

Blaze’s announcement was met with encouragement and excitement from friends and fans.

Dannii Minogue commented “Here she comes”, while Jessica Origliasso of the Veronicas wrote “GO SHAYNNA” under the post and former Olympic swimmer and TV personality Giann Rooney called Blaze a “multi talented fabulous chameleon”.

It’s not the first time fans will have heard Blaze sing. She revealed her singing talent on TV last year when she was unmasked as a singing bluebottle in an episode of The Masked Singer.

In a statement posted on her website earlier this month, Blaze said she’d had a lifelong love of music.

“Back when I was first a single mum I used to sing in Melbourne jazz clubs at night while my babies slept, and I’ve performed occasionally since, singing at Carols by Candlelight and also on the soundtrack of the movie ‘The Fort’,” Blaze wrote.

“As my interior design and TV careers took off, I moved away from music, but I have never lost my passion for performing in front of a microphone. It quite simply gives me joy.

“So, it’s with great joy that I can let you know that I’ve recorded a single, which I’ll be releasing on May 3!

“I can’t wait to share my musical side with you – I’ll see you on Spotify very soon!”

Another statement on Blaze’s website says her debut single was inspired by co-writing a song with ARIA-award-winning artist Gary Pinto for “The Fort” that she produced and funded with her two children.

“Shaynna’s love of soul, funk and acid jazz by the classic greats such as Aretha Franklin, Sarah Vaughan, Dionne Warwick, Randy Crawford and modern artists Renee Geyer, Chaka Khan, Nelly Furtado, Dido and N’Dea Davenport inspired Shaynna and Gary’s collaboration,” it says.

“She began song writing in her early 30s, but it is only now that Shaynna is breaking out as a songwriter and will be performing her original works in the coming months.”
