Round three of the Geraldton water polo season saw the B52’s deliver a commanding performance, with sweeping victories across both A and B-grades which solidified their ladder positions.

In the A-grade women’s clash, B52’s edged out a determined Demons team with a narrow 7-6 victory, reminiscent of last season’s grand final showdown. B52’s Emma Smith played a crucial role, scoring once and keeping the B52’s in control, and the veteran player was unstoppable in the centre of the pool.

Keshi McCagh led the scoring for B52’s with three goals, securing the hard-fought win. Demons pushed right up to the final siren, with Zoe Sellars and Olivia Higgs each contributing two goals in an impressive effort.

In the men’s A-grade game, B52’s came out on top over a revitalised Rats side, winning 8-6. Mick Rock and Kurt Tunbridge’s experience proved essential in breaking down the Rats’ defence.

Seasoned Rats players Luke Neuwert and Darcy Wiffen, kept the game competitive, forcing B52’s to battle for every goal.

Rats will still take a morale boost from the game, given the positive performance across the four quarters.

In women’s B-grade, B52’s maintained their momentum with a 10-5 victory over Demons, led by Evie Prout, who scored twice and set up several other plays.

Rats defeated Serpents in a 9-3 win, with Lani Grant emerging as the standout for the victors.

The B-grade men’s matches saw the B52’s in top form, dominating Rats with a decisive 13-2 score. Jimmy Horsman and Daniel Prout combined to score six goals, leading the team to a strong win.

B52’s Relics completed the clean sweep in the top two grades with an 8-5 victory over Demons, thanks largely to Dan Oswald who netted five goals.

In men’s C-grade, Rats pulled off a late-game 7-6 victory over Demons, with Lucas Ronan proving instrumental, scoring twice for the winners and driving their attack to clinch the game.

The women’s C-grade games saw Serpents Blue break the B52’s streak, securing an 8-2 victory. Sarah Kenyon and Kalani Catto were unstoppable, each netting four goals.

Rats Orange also claimed a win over Serpents Green, finishing 6-4, with Esta Penberthy leading the charge.

The final match of the round saw Rats Black take down Demons Black 8-5, with Megan Brand scoring four goals to put Rats back on top of the leaderboard.
