Restored iconic yellow submarine to be located at Eastern Breakwater Jetty in Geraldton

After many years of dedication and restoration, the City of Greater Geraldton is the new owner of the iconic yellow submarine and is looking to have it installed at its new home in September or October.

The submarine will located at “site five” — the base of the Eastern Breakwater Jetty on Marine Terrace.

It was selected after a study earlier in 2024 because of lighting, CCTV and foot traffic.

Having been in storage for the past four years, since a specialised restoration committee finished its refurbishment, the iconic submarine will be put on display in coming months.

The city has allocated $80,000 in the 2024-25 budget to have it installed.

In June, city councillors voted to accept the submarine as a gift from the Rotary Club of Greater Geraldton and take on responsibility for its upkeep.
