It was a double for trainer Meg Forrester and jockey Casey Hunter that made their day on Saturday at the Geraldton Turf Club with fellow jockey Austin Galati also chalking up two wins.

Forrester and Hunter partnering up for wins in two of the three races entered with a third place finish to go along with their successful day out on International Women’s Day.

The duo got their day started with a third place finish in race one on King Of The Woods. Hunter rode a great race on the three-year-old gelding, falling just short of a win in the last 100m of the race.

The first race of the day for Forrester and Hunter came in race three with a stellar ride on Ebony’s Ace who led from start to finish in a gutsy win over the 1413m.

Their second win was welcomed in race five in another strong performance by Hunter, this time on board three-year-old filly, Conservative Miss who stormed home to win by a length.

After finding herself boxed in running out of barrier one, Hunter managed to hold her position on the back of Conservative Miss who turned it on in the last 100 metres to take out race five.

Fellow jockey Austin Galati also trotted away from Geraldton with a double in races two and seven.

The track talent took out race two in impressive style on board of Jessica Bain’s Queen Tiffany who held front of the pack out of barrier four prior to putting the foot down at the final turn, winning by two lengths.

Final race of the day topped it off for Galati winning race seven on Tony Scally’s Bolta who started shaky out of the barriers, finding itself at the back of the pack.

Galati worked the four-year-old gelding back into the contest at the final bend at Geraldton where a wide berth by Galati saw Bolta charge home to win by four lengths, marking a double for Galati.

Race of the day came in race six with a close finish between Allan Hughes’ Butterflyrock and Julia Martin’s Bombay Style and Miff Muffered Moof.

The Martin stable products led the way in the early stages of the race with Sean Rains’ Set The Scene creeping up to second, meeting Bombay Style at the 1000m mark.

Bombay Style and Set The Scene led the pack with the top four rounded out by Miff Muffered Moof and Butterflyrock at the 600m mark with a sprint finish that followed the final bend.

Butterflyrock charged from the outside to take out race six pipping Bombay Style at the line with Miff Muffered Moof finishing third, a whisker in front of Set The Scene.

Female jockeys Madi Derrick, Chanel Cooper, Kristy Bennett and Amy Jo Hayes lit up race six as punters watched on as the race of the day went right down to the wire.
