Fresh from singing a mega contract extension that will keep him at the Broncos until 2029, electrifying five-eighth Ezra Mam has urged halves partner Adam Reynolds to sign for as long as possible as the club looks to avenge last year’s grand final heartbreak and end a premiership drought that dates back to 2006.

The Broncos announced on Tuesday that Mam had ignored a lucrative offer from the Dolphins to stay loyal to the club that handed him his debut in 2022.

The hefty extension is worth it after he produced a grand final performance for the ages with a rapid hat-trick against the Panthers, only for the three-time premiers to roar home with the wind at their backs in last year’s epic decider.

The 21-year-old is seen as the future of the club, but the future can start now with Reynolds reportedly close to signing on for another season.

“I’d like to see him sign on as long as he can, as long as his legs work,” Mam said, with the pair complementing each other perfectly.

“He has been very good for me in my learning the last couple of years.

“Having him as a mentor in my career has been very helpful and I can see my game developing even more because of a player like him.”

Mam said that his “main goal was to win a grand final”, and his focus should be more narrowed now that his long-term future at the club has been sorted.

Broncos coach Kevin Walters said the speedster had only “scratched the surface”, and that’s an ominous warning to their rivals given Brisbane has a young core that should have them challenging for titles for years to come.

“I don’t think it is going to change me at all. I am just a kid from Goodna and want to play footy,” he said of his new deal.

“That is the main thing I was raised to do - to play footy and have fun with my friends and family. I don’t think it will change me.

“I told my management that I want to look no further than the Broncos and that’s the way we handled it.

“I was surprised to hear all the reports about the Dolphins, but I didn’t look that far.

“I grew up a big Broncos fan. I debuted here and they have looked after me since I was a young kid of 13 coming into the development system.

“That loyalty the club has showed me made the decision very easy. I’m happy to spend a lot more time at the Broncos.

“There’s a big future here at the club with all the young boys coming through. Hopefully we can put it together and with people like ‘Reyno’ at the club as well, he can guide us in the years ahead.”
