Leederville train station: Police arrest man after several people allegedly threatened with knife

VideoA manhunt is underway for a man who threatened several people with a knife at Leederville train station on Monday morning.

Police have arrested a man over a terrifying incident at Leederville train station where several people were allegedly threatened with a knife on Monday.

A male was seen on CCTV fleeing the train station shortly after people were threatened around 7.30am, police say.

No injuries were reported.

Officers were searching for the alleged knifeman with the help of the police airwing and canine squad before a WA Police spokesman confirmed a man was in custody over the incident on Monday night.

“One male is currently in custody and assisting police with inquiries,” he said. “The investigation remains ongoing.”

A male, who police say was linked to the incident, was seen fleeing the scene wearing a black tracksuit top, black tracksuit bottoms with white writing on the leg and white runners.

CCTV released by WA Police on Monday showed the same male walking from the train station carrying a white and black grocery bag shortly after the terrifying incident.

Members of the public were urged to not approach the man under any circumstances, as he may have been armed with a knife.
