Jonothan Andrew Ingram: Pool ban maintained for South Yunderup man accused of indecent assault at Aqua Jetty

A South Yunderup man accused of a sickening attack on a seven-year-old girl at Warnbro’s Aqua Jetty attempted to have his bail varied to regain access to the location last week. Jonothan Andrew Ingram, 42, was charged with two counts of indecent dealing with a child under 13 on July 25. As part of his bail conditions, the self-employed maintenance worker was banned from being within 500m of Aqua Jetty, schools and Perth Airport. But on Tuesday, October 8, at Mandurah Magistrates Court Mr Ingram applied to have these conditions removed as he believes they prevent him from driving to jobs throughout the metropolitan area. Mr Ingram was represented by duty lawyer Claire Hay, who argued he would “technically” be breaching bail just by driving past the locations. The police prosecutor opposed the variance, saying that it was her understanding that Mr Ingram was not employed. “The victim’s family is worried that if that was the case, he’d stop at the (Aqua Jetty) as they go in and out and give exposure to the victim,” she said. Magistrate Leanne Atkins said she would not change the distance to childcare centres or schools in light of the allegations Mr Ingram was facing. “He is not to approach, save when driving past, and there’s to be no stopping,” she added. “I’m not inclined to reduce the radius any further.” Ms Atkins did vary the conditions so Mr Ingram could approach within 100m of Aqua Jetty and within 100m of the airport to support his employment. She maintained that he cannot approach within 500m of schools or childcare centres and cannot have unsupervised access to children. He was not required to enter a plea and will next appear at Central Law Courts on October 28.
