Shoalwater man, 22, arrested after alleged burnout stunt with 11-month-old in car at crash site of Jady Turner

An 11-month-old baby was inside the car allegedly doing burnouts at the site of a fatal crash, police have revealed, as they charged a 22-year-old man over the stunt. The grieving mates of Oakford crash victim Jady Turner allegedly carried out the dangerous tribute on Sunday, doing burnouts on Thomas Road, where he was killed. Mr Turner suffered fatal injuries after his orange Holden Commodore ute clipped an oversized heavy vehicle convoy just after 6.30am on Saturday. Police allege the 22-year-old was doing burnouts in a gold Holden Statesman on Thomas Road about 2pm on Sunday. An 11-month-old infant, a teenage boy and a woman in her 20s were also allegedly inside the vehicle. No one was injured. “The plume of smoke caused other motorists to halt their vehicles, and at the time of the incident, numerous bystanders were in the vicinity,” a police spokesperson said. The Shoalwater resident — who is believed to have never held a driver’s licence — was arrested on Monday and charged with reckless driving and two counts of no authority to drive. Road policing commander Mike Bell slammed the act, labelling it “completely idiotic”. “People recklessly endangering the lives of innocent road users while also putting their own life at risk is something we just won’t tolerate,” he said. “This man allegedly committed an act of reckless driving a day after a fatal crash at that location involving his friend and at a time when he had passengers, including an 11-month-old child, in the car.” He will front Rockingham Magistrates Court on November 22.
